New Zealand Cricket board confirm that their squad from T20 World Cup 2021 & over next four months workload for their team. New Zealand confirmed their world cup line-up in an unprecedented 32-man white ball squad over the next four months. World Cup in UAE and tour of Bangladesh and Pakistan, was also squad as announced.
New zealand chief executive David White highlighted the need to safeguard the well-being of players.
New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White said changing times demanded changing strategies, with player welfare and support one of professional sport’s biggest challenges, particularly in the current pandemic environment.
“The need to safeguard the well-being of our players and support staff is now very real, and we’ve endeavored to do this by carefully managing their workloads over this (year’s) massive playing program,” White said.
On allowing the star New Zealand players to participate in the IPL, he said: “It’s a pragmatic approach. We’ve always tried to be realistic about the IPL. And this particular issue is very much a one-off, caused by a unique set of circumstances.”
Bangladesh and Pakistan tour :
Half of the players will miss the tour of Bangladesh and Pakistan. Because they will join the prematurely suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 with their franchise when it re-start on September 19
New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson and few other players will miss the tour of Pakistan and Bangladesh. Like Trent Boult, Jimmy Neesham, Lockie Ferguson, Kyle Jamieson they will join their IPL franchise.
In absence of Kane Williamson, Tom Latham will be captain for a side in Bangladesh and Pakistan. Kane Williamson will be captain of the New Zealand for the T20 World Cup which starts on October 17 in the UAE. In the squad, big names are miss like Colin Munro, Ross Taylor, and all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme. They can’t take their place in the T20 world cup squad for New Zealand.New Zealand team play under the leadership of Kane Williamson.
According to the statement released by the New Zealand cricket board, the first Blackcaps squad will depart for Bangladesh on August 23. And the player for the test tour to India will return home just before Christmas.
